In a development of events, Supreme Court has ordered to remove Anurag Thakur from the position of BCCI President for now abiding by the court orders. SC also has ordered BCCI Secretary Ajay Shirke to come down from his post, thereby asking both of them to state the reason as to why have they failed to abide by the court of law.

The apex court has further said that BCCI and the State board’s inability to implement its orders to bring transparency and accountability in the cricket body forced the court to take this decision. Also the court further said that both the BCCI officials failed to comply according to the orders and hence were expelled from their respective positions.

Supreme Court has appointed Fali Nariman and senior SC lawyer Gopal Subramaniam as Amiscus Curiae to find out who would be the new BCCI officials.

Among the probable candidates for new BCCI officials, CAB President Sourav Ganguly is expected to be one of the strongest contenders.
