In what came as a shocking revelation by the media, Team India limited overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has decided to step down from captaincy with immediate effect. He will, however, be available for the selection for the One Day and T20I series against England and the same has been conveyed to the Senior Selection Committee.
On the behalf of every Indian cricket fan and the BCCI, I would like to thank MS Dhoni for his outstanding contribution as the captain of the Indian team across all formats. Under his leadership, Indian team has touched new heights and his achievements will remain etched forever in the annals of Indian cricket” Mr Rahul Johri, Chief Executive Officer of the BCC said.
The BCCI Senior selection committee will meet later this week to announce the Indian team for the three match One Day International Series and three Twenty20 matches against England.
MS Dhoni as Indian captain has won every major ICC tournament and was also a part of the number one ranked Test team in 2010.
