Though their names are not much familiar for Indian cricket in new generation, those names are still mesmerizing to cricket statistician for their achievement. Indian cricket has proud impact on world cricket: Sachin Tendulkar’s 51 Test hundreds, most runs, Kumble’s 10 wickets in an inning and many more. But these two names Vinoo Mankad and Pankay Roy are still stood top for their record partnership of 413 runs for first wicket which they registered 61 years ago. This record still remains Indian cricket’s proudest statistical achievement.

On this day, Mankad and Roy wrote new records in Indian cricket book with their opening stand against New Zealand at Corporation Stadium, Madras (now Chennai). This is still highest partnership for any wicket for India. This record stood for almost 52 years in world cricket when Neil McKenzie and Graeme Smith of South Africa broke this feat in 2008 against Bangladesh at Chittagong when they scored just 2 runs more, 415 runs.
