Mashrafe sidelined with a thumb injury🕓 Reading time:1 minute
Mount Maunganui, New Zealand: Bangladesh One Day International and Twenty20 captain Mashrafe Mortaza has fractured his thumb after he was struck on the right hand during the third and final Twenty20 International aganist New Zealand in Mount Maunganui on Sunday.
Mashrafe was injured after a shot from Corey Anderson struck his right hand. Mashrafe had an exray done and the report has confirmed a fractured right metacarpal. Recovery is expected to take between four to six weeks and will be followed by a short rehab. The injury will be out in a cast as he recovers”, team physio Dean Conway said.
The incident occurred during the 18th over when Masharafe bowled a short ball and Anderson beleted it back to him.
“The thumb is sore but the x-ray has come clear. We will review his condition after 48 hours”, Conway said.
