Young Rashid Khan picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad for whopping amount of 4 crores while Mohammad Nabi was picked for 30 lakhs.
But are they worthy enough for such?
Let’s have a look.
Eighteen-year old Rashid Khan and his senior teammate Mohammad Nabi created history in the Afghanistan cricket fraternity as both of them selected by most powerful cricket league; Indian Premier League (IPL). While players like Ishant Sharma, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Shahzad and many more remained unsold, these two became center of attraction of today’s Auction.
Whether Rashid and Nabi are worthy enough for such a huge amount remains a moot question.
If I consider their performance in the shorter-format of the game, I can confidently say, they fully deserved this.
Let’s go into their statistics in T20Is; both with bat and bowl.
In T20 game, as a bowler, economy rate and average matter the most. If you have both economy and average under control, you are a perfect T20 bowler. Rashid and Nabi have a very good economy rate and average and as a result, Rashid is the no. 5 T20I bowler while, Nabi also features fewer than 15 in the rankings (Ranks No. 14 in T20I bowlers).
In the 21 T20Is he played, Rashid has just over six-runs an over while Nabi touches close to seven-runs an over in T20Is. Since January 2016, Rashid has managed to keep his economy under six and his average of below 15 which is brilliant. Also, he is the second-most wicket-taking bowler after India’s Jasprit Bumrah. Below table sums up why these are best T20 bowlers; in terms of both economy rate and average.

Though you don’t have time to settle at the crease, every ball is important from a batsman’s perspective in a T20 game. Bowling allrounder are the key players in T20 games as they contribute by providing some meaty blows in the death overs. Afghanistan have talented bowling allrounder including Rashid and Nabi and they have proved it time and again.
Perfect example is World T20 2016 in India last year.

All-rounder performance in T20Is since Jan 2016
Rashid, who is 18 months older in international cricket, already proved his worth for his team, while Nabi, who is one of the most experienced associate players, has the experience of featuring in such leagues in past.
