Sri Lanka v Bangladesh, 1st Test, Galle, Day 1, 2017 – Statistical highlights

Kusal Mendis’ unbeaten hundred and his partnership with Asela Gunaratne helped Sri Lanka to end the day on a high. Here are the statistical highlights from day one of the first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at Galle. 

1000 Test runs for Kusal Mendis when he reached 148 in his unbeaten inning of 166 at the end of day one. He becomes 31st Sri Lankan to score 1000 Test runs.

196 Runs partnership between Asela Gunaratne and Kusal Mendis for fourth wicket, highest for Sri Lanka against Bangladesh for fourth wicket. The previous highest partnership was by Arvinda de Silva and Kumar Sangakkara when they had added 150 in 2002 at Colombo.

25.40 Average opening partnership for Sri Lanka since World Cup 2015, second-worst for any country in this period. Only West Indies (18.28) have a lower average than Sri Lanka in the list.
