It could be one of the most open Premier League’s in years, but our Cricket Soccer experts are predicting a two-horse race in the new campaign

It’s hard to look past Manchester City when you analyse who will win this season’s Premier League. Pep Guardiola has invested heavily and probably even got two starting elevens ready to challenge for the title. Chelsea won’t be able to repeat their EPL dominance and Mourinho’s Manchester United will come just a little bit too short. Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham could also present a danger to City, but the Spanish mastermind will have the last say.

Verdict – Manchester City

Going with the Jose Mourinho-syndrome – winning the league in second year. It will be Manchester United. In the EPL, it’s always a fight for the title between a few mediocre teams. Chelsea, the last year’s title holders might come second and Manchester City, third. For Pep Guardiola, it will be difficult to win the title even in his second year because of the squad he has – no spark, no spectacular players. Mou’s experience in coaching EPL sides should come in handy.

Verdict – Manchester United

Manchester United. José Mourinho has moulded a team based on solidity and results, with an extra year’s experience together, Josè’s pragmatic attitude could be decisive, as Chelsea will be distracted by the Champions League. Mourinho rarely fails in his second season at a club.

Verdict – Manchester United

Having spent big to address the areas of weakness, Manchester City are now far better equipped to carry out Pep Guardiola’s plans and as a result should be a far more dangerous outfit.

Signs of improvement were already forming during the second half of last season and now with a set of dynamic full-backs, an exciting new goalkeeper, the talented Bernado Silva in midfield and potentially more to come, City’s squad is looking more rounded. Throw in the already world-class talents of Silva, de Bruyne, Aguero and Gabriel Jesus plus one of the best managers in world football and it’s fair to say that if a team finishes above City this season, they have a great chance of being champions.

Verdict – Manchester City

Just like every season, the English Premier League is unpredictable. But I will go for Manchester City to be the eventual champions, because they have made the necessary signings during the summer, to add to an already strong side. The goalkeeper and the fullbacks were clear weaknesses, but with Ederson, Walker and Mendy, that should take the team to another level. Pep Guardiola is very successful in winning league titles, so it would not be a major surprise if he adds another one to his cabinet this season.
