From being a procession for Juventus in previous years, the latest edition of the Serie A title race could be a five-way tussle. Not easy to predict…

Juventus have lost some important players, AC Milan and Inter seem to be back to a strong level and Roma and Napoli just need to make the final step. So everything in theory points against the Bianconeri winning again, but with their experience and quality, Juve are still the ones who will most probably lift the trophy come May.

Prediction – Juventus

I believe the Scudetto is up for grabs by a number of teams this season. Juventus have dominated thoroughly for the last five years but, again, they didn’t face – besides Napoli – any real competition. Right now, AC Milan might be one of the most exciting teams to watch if only for the sheer quantity of money spent on top players. If Vincenzo Montella manages to arrange a cohesive side with sparks of quality, they’re my top choice.

Prediction – Milan

Since 2012, Juventus has dominated Italian football. It has led to people calling the Italian league “boring” and “predictable”. The upcoming Serie A season, however, could turn out to be the most exciting edition in years as Juventus have lost star centre-back Leonardo Bonucci to AC Milan and have looked vulnerable in pre-season. Napoli and AS Roma provide real competition and my money is on Napoli to get it right this year and grab their first Scudetto in 28 years.

Prediction – Napoli

Juventus remain the strongest favorites to retain their title, yet again. However, I would expect Napoli or possibly Milan to gradually start closing the gap this season, and perhaps give them a good run.

Prediction – Juventus

While many would want to jump on Juventus’ Supercoppa defeat to Lazio as a signal that the Bianconeri’s grip on Serie A is slipping, Max Allegri’s boys remain the team to beat. Yes, Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonucci have left and the champions may even make a slow start but they still have an outstanding side and importantly after six consecutive league titles have winning in their DNA.

AC Milan have splashed the cash but will need time to gel, Inter still look short of mounting a serious challenge while it remains to be seen whether Roma and Napoli can push on from their campaigns last season. It might be more difficult and certainly competition in Serie A is hotting up but Juve remain favourites.

Prediction – Juventus
