Donny Van de Beek, the Dutch and Ajax creative midfielder impressed many in the last UEFA Champions League. His command at the center of the park did not go unnoticed by the top clubs of Europe and surely a big club like Real Madrid would need a creative player like him as the days of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are coming to an end.
But the COVID-19 Pandemic outbreak has caused Real Madrid to reconsider their summer transfer strategy.
The current strategy is not to take on new players, but rather slim down the squad. This could lead to other clubs like Manchester United swooping in for the player.
Former Dutch international Ronald de Boer taled to Fox Sorts NL about it.
Here are the excerpts:
When you hear these clubs pass by, I know your heart will beat faster.
On the one hand, I understand that Real Madrid are hesitating a bit. Another club could think ‘hey, an interesting player, maybe we can get him for a little less’.
For example Manchester United.
I think he [Ole Gunner Solskjaer] is tired of the [Paul] Pogbas running around. He wants players like Donny van de Beek.
