When Cristiano Ronaldo left Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2018, Real Madrid were at bay and they were left clueless by the departure of manager Zinedine Zidane at the same time. Those were dark days for the Los Blancos. But tough times showed Florentino Perez the way to build the future and at the end of the season of 2019-20, Real Madrid are a unit full of smile and newly found confidence.

“It is not necessary to discuss how important Cristiano was for Real Madrid”.

“But I must say that we were not overwhelmed by the fact that he was not there in the sense that we could not have the same ambitions”.
