Endrick Felipe Moreira has just won the Copinha trophy with Palmeiras for the first time in the club’s history and has already attracted interest from several European clubs, including Real Madrid, at the age of 15.

The Brazilian prodigy was born on July 21, 2006, and he is already being tipped to become one of football’s next stars, following his emergence earlier this season.

In an interview for MARCA, Endrick discussed Real Madrid’s interest and his personal objectives, while he also expressed his joy at appearing on MARCA’s front page on two occasions.

What a moment, Copinha champion… How did it feel to lift the trophy?

I feel very happy, it was a trophy that Palmeiras did not have. I thank God very much.

There were a lot of jokes, even a song, but with you the story has changed…

I don’t think it’s that much because of me, but I appreciate having been able to put an end to those jokes. Now, let’s keep going.

You still won’t have got used to it, but do you like interviews?

I am calm. They are very good. I like them a lot. But I also try to keep my head calm, my feet on the ground.

Aurelien Tchouameni said that he was surprised to be on the front page of MARCA, that it was crazy. And you?

I play with him on FIFA [laughs]. I was surprised to see myself on the front page of MARCA, which is very important and big. It was very gratifying, it made me very happy. I thank God.

Do they already stop you on the street to ask for an autograph?

Many people ask me for them, also many photos. I try to do as much as possible so that everyone is happy. I don’t get it, but I do my best.

Do you have time to do normal things that people your age do, or are you beginning to notice that your life is different from that of other kids?

There is not much time left over after playing football, but I always try to be with my girlfriend, with my family, playing video games, which is what I like the most… Also going to the beach.

For those who have not yet seen Endrick play, how do you describe yourself? What would you say about your way of moving on a pitch?

I am a player with character, who always tries to do the most difficult things. I try to decide games, to link up with my teammates, which is the most important thing.

I never stop, I always want more. If I score a goal, I want two; if I score two, I want three. I would tell people who don’t know me that I am very persistent.

In which position do you prefer to play?

When I went up to the under-20s, I started as a winger. I played well and scored a lot of goals, but I prefer to play as a striker, which is my original position. The important thing for me is to break the last line of defence to get into the box and score goals.

If you had to look for a role model, a player that you resemble, who would it be?

I like and I identify with [Kylian] Mbappe, as he is young and because I have his characteristics.

And who is your idol?

Cristiano Ronaldo – a spectacular man, a phenomenon. I have to follow in his footsteps.

Have you surprised yourself, shining like this so young in Copinha?

Yes. I expected to have a good Copinha, but not being so decisive. It was very big for me, I managed to play very well against players who are as old as 21 years old.

Thank God, I won the Dener [prize for the best goal], the fans’ MVP [award] and the Copinha MVP [prize]. I would not have accomplished any of this without the team and without humility.

In Spain, there are people who say that you are more than 15 years old…

They have said that since I was young. That’s why I celebrate my goals like this. The more they say it the more strength they give me because it means I’m impressing them. I also put my index finger to my mouth because of that.

And when flexing your muscles too?

Yes, pretending to give me more strength. And the silence because they are telling lies.

What three dreams go through your mind when you think about your future?

I try not to think about the future, but about the present. I dream, of course, of playing in Europe, with the Brazilian national team and winning trophies.

At the moment, you are at Palmeiras. What do Palmeiras represent for you?

They are the team that opened the doors for me in Sao Paulo. I have to thank everyone very much. They have believed in my potential, lifting me up to higher age groups. I can only thank them and continue working because in July I will be 16 years old and I will be able to be in the first team and win trophies.

What does the interest of a club like Real Madrid mean for you?

They are a club I’m very fond of because of Cristiano Ronaldo, who I always followed, with the four Champions League trophies he won there.

I have a lot of love for Real Madrid because of Cristiano, although I have also looked up some of their history and they are a very good team. It is very gratifying for me to know that they are watching me and seeing my games. I am very grateful to God for that. I have to do more, it’s not good enough yet, I have to give more. I still have a way to go.

But they are not the only ones. How about the interest from Barcelona?

They are a very good team too, spectacular, with incredible players, some of whom have already left, such as [Lionel] Messi, Xavi [Hernandez] and [Andres] Iniesta. It’s good that one of the best clubs in the world follows me as a player and a person. I thank God very much.

You promised your father that you would be a professional to end your family’s economic problems. You are already there…

There is not much more to go, but I try not to think about that, but rather that there is still a long way to go because I have a lot to do. My family is very special to me, my siblings, my parents, everyone. I want to give my brother and my family a better life here in Brazil.

How did it feel when Vinicius gave you his shirt? What does Real Madrid mean to you?

Very good for me. He was in spectacular form and he sent me this shirt. I support him a lot, also Real Madrid to win another Champions League. I thank him; I’m waiting for him here at Palmeiras. I have to send him a signed Palmeiras shirt.
