Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice as Barcelona won 4-1 against Valencia to strengthen their hopes of Champions League football next season.

The victory puts Xavi’s side into fourth place in LaLiga, ahead of champions Atletico Madrid who have the same points.

Aubameyang opened his Barcelona account on 23 minutes when he picked up a Jordi Alba ball over the top to fire home.

Frenkie De Jong doubled Barca’s advantage on 32 minutes with a tap-in assisted by Ousmane Dembele.

And Aubameyang made it 3-0 before half-time with another close-range strike after Gavi played the ball across the goal.

Carlos Soler pulled a goal back for Valencia on 52 minutes with a powerful header but Pedri made sure of the points with a superb strike from 30 yards out.
