Back in Israel football exists. They love football and wish to push themselves to the next level. They did feature in the World Cup almost fifty years and at present many of their players are playing club football in Europe. In the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers, the performance of Israel is not at all bad and the thrashing victory over Austria last night hinted at their improvement.

It was time for the European Champions Italy to showcase their display in the World Cup Qualifiers, but in a low-key affair, the Azzurri were held by the Bulgarians. Yes, Italy’s unbeaten run under Roberto Mancini has been intact because they shared points whereas a straightforward victory was expected.

Impressive Chile beaten by Brazil

One might argue that Brazil did not have the services of the major players who are playing club football back in Europe due to COVID-19 restrictions, but on paper Selecao still looked like a formidable unit. And, with someone like Neymar around, obviously, the in-form Brazilian unit was expected to play in a commendable fashion against Chile, who, so far, have cut an unsatisfactory figure. Well, it was not a night to remember for Brazil despite earning full points.

Commendable victory for Argentina over 10-men Venezuela

The Copa America champions showed their might in Venezuela by essaying a dominating victory.

10-men France draw against Bosnia

The memory of the Euro 2020 was quite shocking for the World Champions France and thus they wished to erase that with a commendable victory over Bosnia Herzegovina. Sadly, it turned out to be another painful affair as a ten-man French unit was halted by Bosnia.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Right on top of the world

When Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty in the fifteenth minute and after that, the Republic of Ireland went ahead, the Irish fans smelt a famous victory. Brazil break the Paraguay jinx

Paraguay - quarterfinalists at the South Africa 2010 a decade ago, of course - are looking to book their first return since this time around, having missed out on Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018. A surprise victory here could have vaulted them into the top four and keep them firmly on the front foot. But it did not happen.

Obviously, Argentina were the favourites to win and their start was encouraging until the home side raised their game to stun Messi and co.

Brazil win at Porto Alegre
